 Cheap beer, cigarette smoke and loud music pervaded the dimly lit room we escaped from the chilly, early spring night into.  Fortunately, this was not so much a rude surprise as a disappointing realization of what we had already suspected we would be facing.   
 I was cold, and rubbed my darkly marked hands up and down my black mesh covered arms.  It was Goth night at the little club, and I had gone with my soon-to-be roommate and his girlfriend to see what it was all about.  For years our little group of friends had dabbled on the dark knife edge of Gothic culture Speak His Name

 Beatrice was always looking for her glass slipper.  She looked for it everywhere she went and told everyone she met of her quest.  Of course, it’s very hard to find a glass slipper, since they are not only rare, but very delicate and, of course, translucent.   
 For Beatrice, a glass slipper was more than just an impractical shoe- it was an opportunity for elevation and transformation.  When she had been just a little girl, before her Mommy left and her Daddy got fired from his job, her Grandma had told her the story of Cinderella and her glass slipper.&n Her Glass Slipper

 I wander this world and I see sorrow.  I see famine, suffering, pain, starvation.  I see birth defects and war.  I see ruin, overflowing sewers, fallen trees.   
 I see cable TV shows that feature humans being operated on, with modern medicine and with older techniques.  The stories I hate most are the stories of amputation.
